Frequently Asked Questions

What are E-Cigarettes?

An E-cigarette is a device that was designed to give the user the dose of nicotine they crave, without the negative chemicals associated with smoking cigarettes.
It is a battery powered device, that upon activation, vaporizes a nicotine based liquid known as “E-liquid” or “E-juice”. E-liquid is a liquid that is comprised of 4 ingredients; propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, nicotine, and flavouring. It is a flavoured liquid that is available in several different strengths of nicotine.

The principal behind using E-cigarettes is to quit smoking – simple. We at VapouRevolution will do our best to match each customer with a strength that is comfortable to the individual based on product knowledge and experience.

Is Vaping Healthier than Smoking?

The official word on E-cigarettes are – “there are not enough tests done to verify any legitimate any claims of benficial health effects.” Nor do we claim any health ‘benefits’. We do not see E-cigarettes as healthy per say, we do however see E-cigarettes as a much healthier alternative to that of smoking. The benefits from switching from smoking to vaping will become apparent to the individual upon this lifestyle change. With that being said we cannot officially make any health claims in regard to E-cigarettes. What we can tell you is the ingredients in both products, smoking and vaping, and let you make the decision. We encourage individuals to do their research on the subject, as much of the information is already available on the internet. Over 600 + chemicals are placed in cigarette’s in order to make them burn like they do. When burned, these chemicals release over 4000+ chemicals that are readily accepted into your body.

These chemicals include:

  • Tar
  • Fermaldehyde
  • Acetone
  • Butane
  • Phenylpropionaldehyde
  • Hydrochloric Acid
  • And many others.

Only 4 chemicals are used in E-cigarettes, all of them pronouncable, and all of them on when looked at individually are health Canada approved.

These ingredients are:

  • Propylene Glycol – A chemical found in a variety of household and pharmaceutical products, including; Asthma inhalers, Mouth wash, Toothpaste, and shampo.
  • Vegetable glycerin – A clear odorless simple sugar found in thousands of products such as; soaps, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, an in food as a sweetener .
  • Nicotine – The ingredient that keeps you coming back for more. Derived from either tobacco or night shade plants, Nicotine is not the active cancer causing agent in cigarettes, it is the chemical that gives it the addictive quality.
  • Flavouring – Many of the flavourings used in the E-cig industry are derived from the product they are trying to emulate. For example, blueberry flavouring would be derived from real blueberries. This is not true for all flavour concentrates, some flavourings are artificially manufactured and can contain a harmful chemical known as This is why it is important to use Canadian made and tested products.

Are E-Cigarettes Cheaper Than Smoking?

Most definitely. After your original hardware purchase, the only thing left to buy is the E-juice. This is 10$ for a 10ml bottle, which we’ve found this bottle to last the average consumer around the equivalent 3 packs of smokes, an average of 1/3 the cost of smoking. VapouRevolution also supplies 30ml bottles, equivalent to nearly a carton of cigarettes for the low price of 24$. It does not take long for the savings to add up at that rate.

How Does an E-Cigarette Work?

E-cigarettes work on a very simple principal. This principal is the same among every product sold in our stores. It is a 3 part system consisting of a battery, tank or atomizer, and a coil. The battery is used to charge your device, this battery is rechargeable and reusable in order to eliminate waste in the industry.

Many different battery sizes are available, some with longer milli amp hour (mah) ratings then others, this simply refers to the amount of time that you will be able to use this device on one charge. The tank or atomizer is a simple screw on, screw off attachment that threads onto the top of your battery, this is what holds onto your nicotine liquid or E-juice. Traditionally, this tank holds between 2 to 5ml of liquid depending on the design.

There are many different designs of tanks on the market, all of which have different selling points and features associated with them. The tank can be called many different names in the E-cigarette industry, a few variations of these include – atomizer, clearomizer, and cartomizer. The last part of an E-cigarette is the coil. The coil is what actually produces the vapour in this system. The traditional coil is a simple design, and consists of a cotton wick with a thin gauge of wire wrapped around it. When pressing the button of the E-cigarette battery, it energizes this thin wrap of wire.
The battery then heats the coil (or thin wire wrap), just like a lightbulb, vaporizing the E-juice within the tank that has been absorbed by the cotton wick.

How Long Do Coils Last?

The manufacturing company for the majority of the coils we sell give the duration of a single coil 1000 puffs. This is to be used as a general guideline among most coils, however, the length of time that one coil will last depends very much on your smoking habits and hardware.

Some companies have come up with different coil designs to increase the length of time a single coil will last, as well as the flavour produced by that coil. There is also an ‘avenue’ of E-cigarettes called mechanical mods, in which you ‘wind’ your own coils, and they last much longer.

What Nicotine Strength Do I Start At?

That completely depends on the amount you smoked prior to vaping. We have 4 strengths of nicotine; 0mg, 9mg, 12mg, 18mg, and 24mg. Although there is no easy straight across equivalency, we have found a close scale to mimic your current nicotine intake.

It looks like this:

  • 0mg – No nicotine, this is just flavouring, PG, and VG. This is for those either on there last step of quitting smoking, or for those looking to try vaping with no nicotine.
  • 9mg – This is known as ‘low strength’ nicotine. We’ve found this to be equivalent to a half pack a day smoker.
  • 18mg – This is known as ‘medium strength’ nicotine. We’ve found this to be equivalent to a pack a day smoker.
  • 24mg – This is known as ‘high strength’ nicotine. For those who smoked between a pack and a half and 2 packs of smokes per day. This scale is just a reference for those looking to start into vaping. It is different from person to person. If you find that the strength you start at is not enough to satisfy your nicotine craving, or too much that it starts to give a head ache, then try the next step up or down. You can also mix a higher nicotine E-juice with a lower nicotine E-juice to achieve a level in between the 2 strengths.
